The night had been spent giggling and painting the town red. What did you know, she was party girl. Music ran through her veins and ecstasy kept her eyes wide open for long enough that she could no longer feel the pain that ebbed through her body. Zoey had no idea what time she had returned home or even when she had fallen asleep, but she was gradually coming back to consciousness. And there was a heavy arm wrapped around her from behind. 

What the…? Shaking her head, the werewolf turned over onto her back, blinking sleepily at her companion. 

He looked different when he was sleeping, and not entirely in the bad way either. Sleep could take years off of you or make you look older by a long stretch. And how long had it been since she’d woken up with someone else’s arm wrapped around her? God, were they even wearing clothes? She dared to check, peeking under the covers carefully to see an entanglement of legs. Somehow, she was in her underwear, but he was completely clothed. Not the first time that had happened, per se, but the question in mind was: what now?

“Hey, sleeping beauty,” Zoey croaked, jabbing him gently with her elbow. Gentle? She was being gentle to a guy who was currently sleeping next to her in her bed? What did she have, a soft spot for him or something? Fuck, no. “Hey.” Her voice was louder this time, elbow meeting rib as she nudged Joseph harder. He stirred beside her, hugging her tighter to him as he mumbled something completely incoherent that made her head ache, because she was only starting to remember just now much alcohol she had consumed the previous evening. She would have tried again, but she was barely awake herself, and he was warm, and oh-so comfortable.

Damn it, let him win.
