Joseph didn’t pay much notice to the constant stream of people entering the lobby. He had made a point to be the first off the bus to check the rooms and make sure they were up to standard. After all, it was a Loupe family sponsored event. Upon hearing Zoey, he twisted in his seat and smiled a bit, gesturing her over.
“Hey, so I checked all the rooms and made sure you got a nice one that’s not near the stairs so nobody might wake you by making too much noise. It’s right across from Gen’s room.” He had a sheet of paper in front of him, nabbed from Nyssa, that depicted the rooms and who was in each. He’d took it upon himself to do a bit of editing and was just about to go hand it back to her and say that she’d “dropped” it.
Was she sweating? Had she really been that anxious about dropping a damn phone? Answer: Yes. To both.
Zoey walked over towards him, silently hoping that he hadn’t seen what had just happened as she listened to his speak. “Thank you.” She said for the second time that day. She hadn’t said this many thanks yous since she was was sixteen, but it slipped off her tongue naturally and suprised her by not feeling too much like acid. “Do I have to get used to you looking after me this entire trip or is this just a one day thing?” A hand released the case, letting it lean against the side of the column that she was standing next to.
