Zoey looked at him carefully, swallowing back the sudden dryness in her throat before chewing on her lower lip. Dread started to flood through her body, starting from the pit of her stomach and stopping just short of her heart where she could already feel herself aching. He didn’t have to say a word. He could have just looked at her and she was his. Thing was… he didn’t know her. Not really. “Don’t.” Zoey cut in, putting a hand on his knee as if it would stop him from speaking.
