Genevieve eyed her sister carefully and stopped the waitress in her tracks to take on her Blue Curacao and turn back at Zoey. “How so?” she inquired curiously “You’re an amazing singer and look at all of these people dying to hear you singing… In other occasion you would have taken that guitar on the spot…”
She tilted her head “You’re not feeling okay…” she stated quietly, “Why?”
Her eyes wouldn’t tear away from her audience. It was one of those ‘listen while you eat’ type places, and the people had been satisfied with the last performer. Rather her than Zoey, who was on edge and unable to stop herself from trembling. It wasn’t from the cold, and it was nowhere near full moon, so that wasn’t a viable reason. She just couldn’t will herself to keep still. Maybe she should have worn that damn parka Joseph had given her.
“Because…” Zoey slowly looked away, biting her lip to ease her stressed out mind. All of her thoughts screamed ‘no’, but there was something inside of her that kept nudging her towards the ‘yes’. Still she remained stubborn. “The last time I got up on a stage, I got this thing on my neck.” It was a pointed reference towards the scar that she tried so hard to hide. Stage fright whilst giving speeches had been a given since she was a kid, but stage fright whilst performing? Liam would have laughed.
